Thomas Jefferson quote

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President

What most people don't understand is that the above quote by Jefferson is exactly what is happening today. The Federal Reserve (A cabal in that it's a private bank that works with our governement against you) prints money out of thin air and sells it to our government with interest. If the government made it's own money (backed by gold or silver to prevent massive inflation) we wouldnt' have to pay a national debt to a private bank called the federal reserve.

As it is the federal reserve is our nations master. the national debt can never be payed back since they only print the money to lend and not to pay back. It is good to note that all your federal income tax dollars are payments on interest on the national debt. Not one cent for services.

  1. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the quote, Br'er Marc. I have often considered using it myself here and there in my writings but I've always been just a shade suspicious of Jefferson's supposed use of the word "corporations." It sounds (to my ears) almost as if it were added later. Jefferson was one very wise M.F., but if he really did use the word "corporations", I'd have to say that he was perhaps also "sikike." (Ha! MY word.)

What is your source for this quote, Brother? Do we know it to be reliable? I ask only because it seems that I have run across this particular Jefferson quote only on the internet; I can't recall reading it in any (more scholarly) books I've encountered on this subject. And, as you know, I've done my fair share of reading on this "stuffs." It could be that I have indeed found this quote in one or more reliable books, but I don't recall it now. So, where'd you take it from, Brother Marc?

  2. I picked it up from a republic magazine issue a few months back. It has also been used in America Freedom to Fascism, Alex Jones The Obama deception and such. I too haven't gotten it from another source. I have encountered ones by John Adams (which is the one I was originally looking for) that were along the same lines. If it was a fraud (and at this time I'm inclined to find it authentic), people with more to loose than myself have more than staked their reputation on it. I do believe the quotations (the banks) was added for clarity. I don't have an issue on it.

This website is suspicious of the quote. It seems to be a paraphrase of, or basic premise of another of his quotes according to this site.

Either way, if it's Jeffersons or anothers (some say 1920's for origin) it is historic. There seems to be debate on it. The above site is only one source, and who says their right. Who's to say their wrong? Even the above site (which is suspicious of the quote) established a similar quote else where. I see your point though. I will have to check that magazines sources a little closer.

It is good to note their are others who feel it is authentic, and quote it as such. Guess we will never truly know.

  4. Yes, BR'ER, the quote is very similar to one or more other statements that Jefferson made. He frequently denounced central banking and fiat money. That he expressed similar opinions to that warning posted above, if not precisely word-for-word what is quoted there, is certainly a fact. That he said - likely on several occasions - "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies" has been well established.

The bottom line is that what Jefferson is supposed to have said above is exactly what is happening today. It's just plain truthful regardless of auththenticity.

I am now "Following" this new site of yours, Brother Marc, and have added links to it on my two Blogs. A good Blog idea that I hope you will keep up with as time permits.

    Yak Later, Br'er.

For whatever it's worth I looked for this quote on this site. They have a section of Quotes they believe were never stated by Jefferson. I could not find this quote on the suspect list.

The site claims (for what thats worth) to be ran by Jefferson Encyclopedia scholars, and that all information is only provided by them. Hope that helps in your search bro.

No, and you probably never will, Br'er. I see that in Alex Jones' "The Obama Deception" DVD, they attribute it to an 1802 letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin. That's pretty darned specific information, Bro. And it works for me.
